Long before there were celebrity chefs, Instagram food feeds, and televised cooking competitions, Julia Child published her iconic cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Its publication introduced Americans to French cuisine and launched Child’s career as a beloved educator and television host. Child would later help to shape the culinary arts and gastronomy programs at Boston University. In this hands-on class for kids and teens taught by Claudia Catalano, Boston Globe food writer and chef/owner of Wild Carrot, we will reflect on Julia’s legacy and prepare an elegant French menu using Child’s classic work as our guide.
