Of all the 19th-Century Russian composers, Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky revealed the deepest vision for the style of the future. His reward for this extraordinary creativity was to be despised and denigrated by his friends, who further compounded the compliment by recomposing Mussorgsky's pieces after his early death. Now that most of the original versions are available, one can fully evaluate the music and its influence of the 20th century and beyond. $30, with discounts to BU faculty, staff and students.
