Lost and Found: Maria Lazou, Ukraine

In this episode of Lost and Found, Maria Lazou, a student from Kiev, Ukraine shares with us her [...]passion for volunteering. Maria found her place at BU after joining the Global Engineering Brigades Club. After one of her family members had an undiagnosed stroke she started her journey to becoming a biomedical engineer. Inspired by the love and compassion of her family, which has always been there for her to help during challenging times, she is motivated to help other families to not go through this uncertain kind of emotions. After trying joining different groups and activities she felt that something was missing. It was then when she remembered her childhood times with her dad, when they use to go to a local orphanage to play and interact with the kids, she remembers the value of just sharing time with them, doing gardening or simply reading a story to them. She says that going back to those memories helped her to find inner peace and motivation while being far from her home.
