The Meredith E. Drench Lecture, Sargent College’s first endowed lecture series, was [...]established by physical therapy alumna Dr. Meredith E. Drench to share her passion and belief in the “compassionate rehabilitation†of the whole person. The 2016 lecture, “Keeping Children and Adolescents with Down Syndrome Healthy: Medical Updates for Health Care Professionals†was delivered by Dr. Brian G. Skotko and Melissa J. Reilly.
Dr. Skotko is board-certified medical geneticist and co-director of the Down Syndrome Program at Massachusetts General Hospital who has dedicated his career to children with cognitive and development disabilities. Reilly, a motivational speaker and Special Olympics Athlete and Global Messenger was a member of Team USA at the 2005 World Games in Nagano, Japan. In May of 2010, she was inducted into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame.
