Three Steps to a Better World: TB's On/Off Switch

Global health experts estimate that one third of the world’s population is infected with [...]Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a bacteria whose activation causes tuberculosis. Fortunately, most m. tuberculosis genes remain inactive, but no one knows what it is that causes their activation. Lutchen Fellow Kyle Jones (ENG’13) is using several fluorescent proteins to measure the expression level of these genes, as part of a research project that should help identify the TB on-off switch.
