You hear them, you hate them, but you can’t stop singing them—songs like Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping” and Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” have annoyed audiences for years. However, those could pale in comparison to new YouTube sensation Rebecca Black’s song “Friday.” Since being released on YouTube February 11, the song has gone super-viral, with more than 47 million views. Forbes magazine has estimated Black’s song could earn her $1 million from iTunes alone. Good news for Black, but bad news for those who get the song’s insipid lyrics (“It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday”) trapped in their head. Its inanity has earned the song the dubious honor of being “the worst song ever.”

In light of the nationwide infatuation with YouTube starlet Black, "YouSpeak” asks: “What’s the most annoying song to have gotten stuck in your head?”

On this side of the pond, there’s certainly a “traditional” way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day — the rites typically involve a parade, green clothing, and copious amounts of ale-induced merrymaking. The Guinness corporation is even leading a charge to make it a national holiday in the United States, as it is in Ireland.

As the city of Boston — host of the nation’s first St. Patrick’s Day Parade, in 1737 — decks itself in green for another year’s celebration, BU Today hit the streets to find out just how much people know about Ireland’s patron saint.

It’s that time of year again: next Sunday night the film industry hands out its biggest prize—the Academy Award. This year’s nominees for best picture include a story about a king with a debilitating stutter; a ballerina going crazy; a man forced to cut off his own arm; a scrappy boxer and his even scrappier family; and the brilliant, some would say wily, founder of Facebook, who, incidently, gets dumped by his BU girlfriend. Then there’s the story of a girl in the Ozarks searching for her father; the remake of a 42-year-old Hollywood western; Leo DiCaprio’s latest; a story about a lesbian couple whose kids are “all right”; and the animated Toy Story 3. By Joe Chan and Nicolae Ciorogan
