Specifically, I seek to understand small-scale ocean dynamics and their roles in the large-scale coastal and global ocean circulation. These include energetic submesoscale ocean currents with a horizontal length scale of 0.1 \u2013 10 km, boundary layers which are typically tens of meters thick and turbulent mixing events spanning centimeters to meters.
