He was a marine biologist, whose scholarship focused on the role of iron, vanadium, and other metal ions on the physiological ecology of marine animals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:12pt;\">Today the BU Marine Program is an interdisciplinary program between the Department of Biology and the Department of Earth and Environment. The Warren-McLeod fund continues to honor the donors\u2019 intent to support research on marine ecology. In recognition of the interdisciplinary nature of marine science\u2014and the importance of abiotic factors and human impacts on marine ecosystems\u2014eligibility for the award is broadly defined.
