Hong earns Chinese writing accolade
Visiting Professor of Chinese Literature Zhu Hong recently won an award in the Promotion of Contemporary Women's Writing category from the All-China Foundation for Literature for her efforts in introducing Chinese women's writing in the West through teaching, translation, lectures, and critical writing.

Hong, who has also been called China's leading authority on Victorian literature, designated a deputy to represent her at the award ceremony last month in Beijing. She donated the cash prize to flood relief efforts in that country. A native of Hiajin, China, Hong graduated from Peking University in 1953 and is a senior fellow at the Institute of Foreign Literature, a division of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
