The archives of Boston University Photo Services are rich with images of the University's history over the past half century -- but hundreds of the photos are absolutely enigmatic. This shot from 1951 is one such mystery. Our guess is that the domestic scene was staged to illustrate an article on older students earning undergraduate degrees or perhaps returning to school for a master's degree. (The book on the floor next to the gramophone is How to Organize and Operate a Small Business; could it be a clue to the father's course of study?)
