Photo by Cydney Scott<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directionals go in parentheses:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"editorial-sample\">\n<li>Robert Jones (left) and David Harris are best friends.<\/li>\n<li>Judy Platt (from left), Kara Cattani, and Katharine Mooney are colleagues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Credits<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Crediting for Boston University<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Editorial<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Credit for University-branded materials should read \u201c[Photographer Name]\u201d (Inclusive of alumni publications\/deans\u2019 reports, digital articles, etc.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If produced by BU Photography and provided to channels outside Boston University, credit should read \u201c[Photographer Name] for Boston University Photography\u201d (Inclusive of images provided to outside media outlets, images being used by faculty, staff, or alumni for their own professional purposes, etc.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Credit should identify clearly with which image it is associated: e.g., \u201cClockwise from top right: [Photographer Name]; Courtesy of [Provider Name]\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Credit Placement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For printed materials, crediting should appear on same or adjacent page as image when possible and should be clear with which image it is associated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For digital materials, crediting should appear after image caption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a single photographer has contributed all images in a feature, photographer should be credited in byline of story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When running a single image, or when multiple photographers have contributed images, photographers should be credited in gutter (print) or caption of image (digital).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Social Media Crediting<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, etc.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When linking directly to original story where photo attribution is given, no additional credit required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When sharing images independently, photographer should be credited as above or with social media handle. Crediting with social media handle can create additional reach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Courtesy Images<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due diligence should be done to identify photographer and confirm copyright usage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When using provided images, credit should read \u201cCourtesy of [Provider]\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Stock Images<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Requirements for stock photography crediting will be outlined in agency terms of service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Marketing Collateral<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When creative team (e.g., editor, writer, designer, etc.) is credited, photography should be credited similarly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Captions Photo captions in editorial text should be full sentences ending with a period.
