(<em data-redactor-tag=\"em\">not<\/em> April 1st, 2006)<\/li>\n<li>On Monday, September 2, the professor\u2026.<\/li>\n<li>You are invited\u2026on March 15, 2022, at 3 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>When using only a month and year, do not use a comma to separate them:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"editorial-sample\">\n<li>The visiting scholars are expected in September 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Seasons are lowercased:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"editorial-sample\">\n<li>The students will graduate in spring 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Write 2021\u201322 or 2021\u20132022 for the academic year (note the en dash to denote a range). Avoid writing 2021\/22.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In times of day eliminate unnecessary figures, and do not capitalize or use periods with am and pm.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"editorial-sample\">\n<li>7\u20139 pm (<em data-redactor-tag=\"em\">not<\/em> 7:00\u20139:00 pm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use am and pm in general text (without periods, and omit :00):<\/p>\n<ul class=\"editorial-sample\">\n<li>7 am or 5 pm (<em data-redactor-tag=\"em\">not<\/em> 7:00 am or 5:00 pm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use noon instead of 12 pm.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Express years or times in parallel construction, or use an en dash to denote a range:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"editorial-sample\">\n<li>From 1997 to 2007<\/li>\n<li>from 9 to 10:30 am<\/li>\n<li>7\u20139 pm<\/li>\n<li>January 18\u201322, 2022<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Avoid references such as \u201cnext week,\u201d \u201cyesterday,\u201d \u201clast semester\u201d and the like. People may read what you write well into the future without any way to tell when it was written.
