{"id":101,"date":"2019-06-04T14:44:19","date_gmt":"2019-06-04T18:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/brand\/?page_id=101"},"modified":"2024-05-15T15:50:06","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T19:50:06","slug":"branding-naming","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/brand\/guidelines\/editorial-style\/branding-naming\/","title":{"rendered":"Branding &#038; Naming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BU Brand Identity Standards have established the following naming conventions for all BU schools and colleges, departments, and centers, in both logos and in text:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The initials \u201cBU\u201d may not be part of a Boston University entity\u2019s name in logos, as the sub-brand signature already carries \u201cBU\u201d in the icon that precedes the entity\u2019s name. Therefore, combining the icon with an entity name that includes \u201cBU\u201d results in an awkward duplication. Exceptions to this convention need to be approved by the Office of the President, as has been done for BUWorks, BU Hub, <em>BU Today<\/em>, BU Votes, and BUild Lab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Replace \u201cand\u201d with the ampersand symbol (&amp;) in the proper names of schools, departments, centers, etc. Note that an ampersand should <em data-redactor-tag=\"em\">not<\/em> be preceded by a comma. The ampersand should be used within a single entity.
