Internship title: Writing for alumni engagement

Description of Internship Project:

The intern will work with Drs. Amanda Bolgioni-Smith and Barbara Schreiber to write descriptions of panel discussions on career opportunities in the biomedical sciences. The intern will attend the events and write descriptions of the panelists’ career paths. The write-ups will be sent out to GMS alumni to keep them abreast of what we’re doing in GMS. The hope is that the write ups will inspire our alumni to keep up with what we’re doing and to perhaps participate in the future as well.

Responsibilities of the intern:

The intern will attend the panel discussions, take notes and photographs, then write reports to describe the events.

Description of Deliverable at Completion of Internship:

The deliverables are the write-ups/photos to be sent to our alumni.

Evaluation of the deliverable:

Each write-up will be evaluated/edited so as to give the intern feedback to learn to write descriptions that will be of interest to our alumni audience.

Training will be in writing/reporting of events. The intern will learn to write short, descriptive pieces geared toward describing the exciting careers our alumni are engaged in. Moreover, a goal is to inspire alumni who read these pieces to consider getting involved in GMS.

The work entails attending events in person but writing them up can be performed remotely.
