{"id":14060,"date":"2021-08-09T16:25:03","date_gmt":"2021-08-09T20:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/bands\/?page_id=14060"},"modified":"2025-11-24T11:47:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T16:47:38","slug":"non-degree-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/bands\/join\/non-degree-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Non-Degree Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Boston University officially allows students from other colleges\/universities to participate in BU Music Ensembles, as long as your school does not have a similar ensemble.<\/h2>\n<p>Non-BU students who wish to participate in the BU Bands program must do so by registering as &#8220;non-degree students.\u201d This will officially put you on your chosen ensemble&#8217;s BU class roster and provide you with access to the Band Room, etc.<\/p>\n<h3>First Time Non-Degree Students<\/h3>\n<p>For<em><strong> first time Non-Degree student<\/strong><\/em>s to participate in the BU Bands program, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>not have a similar ensemble available to you at your college\/university.<\/li>\n<li>be 18 years or older by the first scheduled activity.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/admissions\/non-degree\/application\/\">Fill out the Non-Degree Application ASAP<\/a> (<strong>Applications are due at least two weeks prior to the first ensemble activity<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Be on the lookout for an email from the BU School of Music confirming your enrollment. If you are unsure which course to sign up for please visit our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/bands\/bands-and-ensembles\/course-registration-info\/\">Course Registration Information<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact the Bands Office (bands@bu.edu).<\/p>\n<h2>Terrier Card Information (To be completed prior to Band Camp)<\/h2>\n<div class=\"\"><u class=\"\">Step 1: <\/u><i class=\"\">(skip to step 2 if already complete<u class=\"\">)<\/u><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Register as a non-degree student at BU which can be done<\/span><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/admissions\/non-degree\/application\/\" class=\"\">here<\/a><span class=\"\">. In the event you do not have an\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\" style=\"color: #000000;\">unofficial transcript, upload any document that proves your\u00a0enrollment at your current institution.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><u class=\"\">Step 2:<\/u><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">Make sure that you have set up a BU Kerberos password. This will be necessary to access all of the information below. You should have received special instructions from the registrar on how to complete this. If you cannot find these instructions, please submit a help request\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/contact\/\" class=\"\">here<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><u class=\"\">Step 3:<\/u><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Visit\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/terrier-card-photo-upload\" class=\"\">www.bu.edu\/housing\/terrier-card-photo-upload<\/a><span class=\"\">\u00a0to learn how to upload a<\/span>\u00a0photo to \u201cStudent Link&#8221; for your Terrier Card.
