{"id":2617,"date":"2025-09-09T10:55:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/aware\/?page_id=2617"},"modified":"2025-09-09T10:59:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:59:08","slug":"aware-lab","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/aware\/be-aware-of-aware\/aware-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"AWARE LAB"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"responsiveVideo responsive-youtube\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Asian-American Women&#039;s Mental Health (AWARE Study at BUSSW)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ie5wT6GAJdM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">What is <i>AWARE <\/i>?<\/h1>\n<p><i>AWARE<\/i> grew out of stories we heard from Asian-American young women \u2013 diverse individuals who are traversing two worlds (the mainstream American culture and their parents\u2019 culture) while navigating the challenges of young adulthood.\u00a0Specifically, the AWARE study seeks to improve the mental and sexual health of Chinese-American, Vietnamese-American or Korean-American young women in a manner that is sensitive to their unique cultural experiences and challenges.\u00a0 It is comprised of group therapy sessions, interviews, as well as encouragement through daily secure text messages, called \u201cAWARE Stories.\u201d\u00a0 Our work is dedicated to the women we\u2019ve interviewed, as well as all Asian-American young women, with the hope that they will <strong>grasp their inherent <em>worth and beauty<\/em><\/strong>, as well as <em><strong>grow in resilience and empowerment. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This intervention is integrative, holistic, and innovative. \u00a0It was developed by Boston University, School of Social Work and is funded by National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). (Funding number: 1R34MH0999-01A1).<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thenetwork.bu.edu\/offering\/aware-certificate-program\/\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">AWARE Training Certificate\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>AWARE now has a training certificate program for social workers, mental health counselors, advisors, and education professionals to support and empower young Asian-American women.
