In high school, I had the opportunity to work closely with a first-grader with autism through a community service program. Since then, I have worked with children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities by assisting researchers, therapists, teachers, and families. I am interested in exploring the neural mechanisms behind language development and alternative forms of communication (such as sign language or gestures).
