We seek to understand the difference between those that are \u201clate bloomers\u201d and those that do not acquire speech.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #3f56df;\">Who can particip<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #3f56df;\">ate?<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/autism\/files\/2020\/08\/Boyanddadfaceand-computerwhiteback-464x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"464\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6216 alignright\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/autism\/files\/2020\/08\/Boyanddadfaceand-computerwhiteback-464x300.png 464w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/autism\/files\/2020\/08\/Boyanddadfaceand-computerwhiteback-1024x662.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/autism\/files\/2020\/08\/Boyanddadfaceand-computerwhiteback-768x496.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/autism\/files\/2020\/08\/Boyanddadfaceand-computerwhiteback.png 1451w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children with an ASD diagnosis<\/li>\n<li>Who are between 3 and 8 years old<\/li>\n<li>Who are primarily spoken to in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are especially interested in those<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who have challenges with speech and language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #3f56df;\"><strong>What does the study involve?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>2-3 hours total<\/li>\n<li>Several online surveys<\/li>\n<li>Interviews and activities over Zoom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More specifically, if you are eligible for our study, we will schedule a brief (about 30 minutes) video call where we will talk to you about the study. If you would still like to participate, we will send you several online surveys to complete (about 1-1.5 hours). Once those are complete, we will schedule a Zoom interview where we will ask you questions about how your child, and schedule a recorded Zoom call where we will ask you to play with your child, and ask your child to copy several motor tasks.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #3f56df;\">Is there compensation?<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Yes!
