{"id":3410,"date":"2013-12-30T17:15:08","date_gmt":"2013-12-30T21:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/astronomy\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=3410"},"modified":"2020-08-17T14:24:13","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T18:24:13","slug":"nancy-crooker","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/astronomy\/profile\/nancy-crooker\/","title":{"rendered":"Nancy Crooker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Research Interests:<\/strong> <i>Solar wind, space weather, and solar wind \u2013 magnetosphere coupling.<\/i><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nProfessor Nancy Crooker works in the area of heliospheric and solar-terrestrial physics, with particular interests in coronal mass ejections, the hurricanes of space, in the structure of the heliospheric current sheet, a global boundary which separates magnetic fields of opposite polarity, and in the magnetic flux budget of the heliosphere, which waxes and wanes with the 11-year sunspot cycle. She leads an effort supported by NASA and NSF to determine the magnetic topology of heliospheric structures using in situ electron and magnetic field data from a number of spacecraft.
