We have run the Open Nights since 1967.<\/p>\n<p>The Open Nights are held most Wednesday evenings throughout the year, weather permitting.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" id=\"forms\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Will Open Night be held tonight?<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>There are three ways to check if Open Night will be held tonight:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Call our information number at 617-353-2630, <b>no earlier than two hours before<\/b> the scheduled starting time, or<\/li>\n<li>Check for updates on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mastodon.social\/@buobservatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mastodon.social\/@buobservatory<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" id=\"forms\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Free, But Tickets *are* Required<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Public Open Nights are open to everyone, however space is limited. Ticket reservations for admission are managed through the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/boston-university-open-night-tickets-17357508776\">BU Open Night Eventbrite site<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets are free<\/strong>, limited to 5 per person, and made available on Thursday mornings at ~11am (EDT). Please note that tickets are released manually but are typically opened around 11am.<\/p>\n<p>More details can be found on the Eventbrite page.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" id=\"forms\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Start Time<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The program starts promptly at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>7:30pm:&nbsp;&nbsp;from October to March<\/li>\n<li>8:30pm:&nbsp;&nbsp;from April to September<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please arrive early as <strong>there is no admittance once the program begins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We start admitting ticketed guests 10 minutes before the program begins. Right before the program starts and after all the ticketed guests that are present are admitted, we will admit any non-ticketed guests until we reach capacity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No unaccompanied minors will be admitted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" id=\"forms\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Location<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Public Open Night is held at the Judson B. Coit Observatory at Boston University. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Address:<\/strong><br \/>\n725 Commonwealth Avenue, above the Astronomy Department<br \/>\nBoston, MA 02215\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The stairwell up to the Observatory is on the fifth floor just to the left of room 520.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the Observatory is only accessible via stairs.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" id=\"forms\" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Weather<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>The weather is always a factor when observing. Unfortunately we can&#8217;t control the weather and we can&#8217;t observe when there are clouds, haze, or rain; so when the weather is bad, the Open Night will be canceled. Predicting the weather in New England isn&#8217;t easy, so <b>we won&#8217;t know if the Open Night will be held or not until the day of the program<\/b>. This lets us make the decision as late as possible while still giving those who live farther away time to get here.
