He is the author or <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/asian\/files\/2020\/02\/fewsmith.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"279\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-12311\" \/>editor of nine books, including, most recently,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Rethinking Chinese Politics<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>(June 2021). Other works include<span>\u00a0<\/span><i>The Logic and Limits of Political Reform in China\u00a0<\/i>(January 2013),<span>\u00a0<\/span><i>China since Tiananmen\u00a0<\/i>(2nd edition, 2008), and\u00a0<i>China Today, China Tomorrow<\/i>\u00a0(2010). Other books include\u00a0<i>Elite Politics in Contemporary China<\/i>\u00a0(2001),\u00a0<i>The Dilemmas of Reform in China: Political Conflict and Economic Debate<\/i>\u00a0(1994), and\u00a0<i>Party, State, and Local Elites in Republican China: Merchant Organizations and Politics in Shanghai, 1890-1930<\/i>\u00a0(1985). He is one of the seven regular contributors to the\u00a0<i>China Leadership Monitor<\/i>, a quarterly web publication analyzing current developments in China.<\/p>\n<p>Fewsmith travels to China regularly and is active in the Association for Asian Studies and the American Political Science Association. His articles have appeared in such journals as\u00a0<i>Asian Survey<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Comparative Studies in Society and History<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The China Journal<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The China Quarterly<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Current History<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Journal of Contemporary China<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Problems of Communism<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>Modern China<\/i>.
