Leir Professor of Practice in the Economics of the Middle East at Brandeis University\u2019s <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/asian\/files\/2021\/10\/Nader-Habibi-headshot.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"152\" height=\"190\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13640\" \/>Crown Center for Middle East Studies. Before joining Brandeis University in June 2007, he served as managing director of economic forecasting and risk analysis for Middle East and North Africa in Global Insight Ltd. Mr. Habibi has more than 30 years of experience in teaching, research and management positions; including vice-president for research in Iran Banking Institute (Tehran), assistant professor of economics in Bilkent University (Ankara), research fellow and lecturer on political economy of Middle East at Yale University. The author of one book on bureaucratic corruption and several articles in refereed journals; he earned his Masters Degree in Systems Engineering and Ph.D. in economics at Michigan State University. His most recent research projects include a) an analysis of the excess supply of college graduates in Middle Eastern countries, b) impact of economic sanctions on Iranian economy and the impact of Arab Spring uprisings on economic conditions of the affected countries, c) China Middle East economic relations. His latest academic article is titled <\/span><span>\u201cPreventing Overeducation and Graduate Surplus: What can West Asia Learn From Singapore and Hong Kong,\u201d <em>Asian Education and Development Studies<\/em>, 2019, Vol. 8, Issue 3.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thebackyardpros.com\/winter-cover-for-outdoor-furniture\/\"><strong>Adel Abdel Ghafar<\/strong> is a nonresident fellow in the Foreign Policy program at Brookings, and was a fellow at the<span>\u00a0<\/span>Brookings <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/asian\/files\/2021\/10\/Adel-Abdel-Ghafar-headshot.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/asian\/files\/2021\/10\/Adel-Abdel-Ghafar-headshot.jpeg 120w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/asian\/files\/2021\/10\/Adel-Abdel-Ghafar-headshot-100x100.jpeg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 120px) 100vw, 120px\" \/>Doha Center, where he was previously acting director of research. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University\u2019s School of Foreign Service in Qatar. He specializes in political economy and his research interests include state-society relations, socio-economic development and foreign policy in the MENA region. Abdel Ghafar has a background in international banking and finance and has worked for a number of financial institutions including HSBC and Citigroup. Abdel Ghafar holds a doctorate in political science and international relations from the Australian National University.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thebackyardpros.com\/winter-cover-for-outdoor-furniture\/\"><strong>Sophie Zinser<\/strong> is Schwarzman Academy Fellow, Asia-Pacific Programme and Middle East North Africa Programme at <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/asian\/files\/2021\/10\/Sophie-Zinzer-portrait.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"166\" height=\"140\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-13642\" \/>Chatham House, Royal Institute of International Affairs. She provides analysis on China\u2019s role in the Middle East and South and Central Asia, with a particular focus on the US\u2019s role in the burgeoning China-Middle East relationship.
