Dastangoi: The Art of Storytelling

Dastangoi is the art of traditional Urdu storytelling around the adventures of an Arab hero, Amir Hamza. These stories and the art form were very popular in the 19th century North India and have been revived in recent times. In this lecture-demonstration, India’s leading Dastangoi practitioner, Ankit Chadha, will discuss the journey of the art form and demonstrate some narratives.
