Second year Arts Administration student Claire Fassnacht<\/a> recently submitted a proposal that helped The Cambridge Youth Gamelan<\/a>, a children’s music ensemble,\u00a0receive a $1,150 grant from the Cambridge Arts Council.\u00a0As co-faculty member and co-administrator, Claire’s successful proposal will support the faculty, guest artists and marketing initiatives for\u00a0the program’s\u00a0Winter and Spring 2017 sessions.\u00a0This program\u00a0allows Cambridge-area children the opportunity to explore\u00a0traditional Balinese music and learn about the culture\u00a0of Bali, Indonesia, complete with end-of-session performances\u00a0open to\u00a0family and the greater\u00a0Cambridge community.<\/p>\n

The Cambridge Youth Gamelan was founded in 2015 and meets once a week for 1.5 hours in the MIT World Music Room. In addition to Claire, the ensemble is managed and taught by Emeric Viani and Mark Stewart. For details, visit www.cambridgeyouthgamelan.com<\/a><\/p>\n
