{"id":20889,"date":"2023-10-16T11:20:49","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T15:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/artsadmin\/?p=20889"},"modified":"2023-10-16T11:24:19","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T15:24:19","slug":"contract-job-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/artsadmin\/2023\/10\/16\/contract-job-executive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Contract Job: Executive Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/artsadmin\/files\/2023\/10\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"631\" height=\"172\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20898\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Boston Dance Alliance (BDA), a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the local dance community and its diverse artists is in search of an Interim Executive Director.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In this contract position you will:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ensure robust program service to the dance community continues without interruption;<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintain BDA operations;<br \/>\n\u2022 Safeguard BDA\u2019s financial health by overseeing income-generating programs; and<br \/>\n\u2022 Proactively communicate organizational strength and continuity during the interim period.<\/p>\n<p>You will work with and receive support from an engaged, active Board dedicated to leading BDA<br \/>\ninto an exciting future. Staff includes a committed, community-minded Operations and<br \/>\nMembership Associate, and a contract bookkeeper with key insights and unique knowledge of<br \/>\nthe finances. Both are partners to the interim Executive Director.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate has familiarity with the Massachusetts cultural sector, enthusiasm for<br \/>\ndance and the performing arts, a demonstrated ability to sustain relationships with diverse<br \/>\ncommunities, and a knack for managing operational functions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Status:<\/strong> Contract<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start date:<\/strong> Immediate, for 6 months, while board works on organizational strategy and a<br \/>\nsearch for permanent Executive Director.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary:<\/strong> Negotiable, based on $70-80\/hour, with range of 10-15 hours per week.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Location\/ Virtual;<\/strong> Flexible hours, some nights and weekends associated with Board meetings<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong> and events throughout duration of the contract.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SPECIFIC WORK ITEMS<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Operations &amp; Finance<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Administer fiscal sponsorship program (50+ independent artists\/projects): Onboard new<br \/>\nsponsees; coordinate donations and disbursements including contact with grantors and<br \/>\ndonors; ensure and safeguard digital and other documents including award letters and<br \/>\ndonations with BDA Bookkeeper.<br \/>\n\u2022 Administer rental program of BDA\u2019s portable dance floor: Manage relationships with<br \/>\nproduction crew, floor technicians and venues. Work with board members on future<br \/>\nmaintenance and other related business.<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage and oversee BDA budget: including monitoring of income and outflow.<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage part-time and contract staff and other contractors as required.<br \/>\n\u2022 Oversee grants calendar: Ensure grants, reports and other requirements are completed and<br \/>\nsubmitted on time; work with board members on identification and completion of grants.<br \/>\n\u2022 Proofread and light editing of weekly newsletter: Manage ongoing process and<br \/>\nimprovement with staff.<br \/>\n\u2022 Identify and forward ideas for incremental improvement: of tasks, programs and other BDA<br \/>\nbusiness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Management &amp; Community Involvement<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 High-level community representation of BDA (with board members as appropriate): at<br \/>\ncommunity events; in Zoom conversations; during project consultations; and more.<br \/>\n\u2022 Oversight of ongoing BDA programming: including Boston Dancemakers\u2019 Residency, and<br \/>\nDance and Disabilities program, both of which are administered externally this year; address<br \/>\nprogram questions\/concerns in conjunction with staff\/consultants and board members.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fundraising<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Execute end-of-year appeal: Create content and manage year-end fundraising campaign<br \/>\nbeginning with Giving Tuesday; includes social media, eBlasts, letter template for Board,<br \/>\netc.<br \/>\n\u2022 Support fundraising events that occur during contract period.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond work listed above, BDA board may also solicit support for other projects or work items.<br \/>\nAs an example, board may contract support for opportunity research with new individuals or<br \/>\ninstitutional resources, major gift opportunities or fundraising campaigns related to purchase of<br \/>\nnew dance floor.<\/p>\n<p>Boston Dance Alliance is committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace, and dedicated<br \/>\nto fair and inclusive employment practices.
