Job: The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival

The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival is now accepting applications for seasonal staff positions, the successful candidates will be integral members of the festival staff for its 52nd Season in July and August 2025.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival is an internationally acclaimed six-week summer festival of over 40 chamber music concerts and youth concerts performed by world-class musicians. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Marc Neikrug, the Festival gathers artists from around the world to perform in Santa Fe. The esteemed artists for the 52nd Season will include Kirill Gerstein, Juho Pohjonen, Gilles Vonsattel, Orion Weiss, Colin Currie, Chad Hoopes, Paul Huang, Yura Lee, Eric Kim, Paul Watkins, Tara Helen O’Connor, David Shifrin, Carol McGonnell, Stefan Dohr, the Dover, Escher, JACK, Miami, and Calidore String Quartets, and others.

JOB 1: PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE

Each Production Associate will be a member of the festival’s three-person stage crew and provide general production support for all concerts and rehearsals. Primary responsibilities include stage preparation, stage moves and artist calls during performances, load-ins/load-outs, moving equipment and instruments, rehearsal oversight, and general production duties.
A successful candidate will have prior concert production experience; a valid driver’s license; the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., the commitment to working in an intensive festival environment; a proven record of reliability, punctuality, a positive attitude, and self-motivation. Also highly desirable is a background of study in music performance.

  • Term of employment: From July 9 – August 19, 2025
  • Compensation: The compensation for the full season is $6,000.00.

JOB 2: ARTISTIC ADMINISTRATION INTERN 

The Artistic Administration Intern participates in all artist services for the six-week summer season. Primary duties include maintaining the Artistic Director’s calendar, welcoming and orienting artists, driving artists from Albuquerque airport, preparing and distributing schedules and parts, rehearsal setups, and music preparation. Interns are also part of the social media capture team when time allows.

A successful applicant will have a classical music background; a valid driver’s license; good communication, people, organizational, and computer skills; a positive attitude; the ability to work calmly in fast-paced environment; and be 21 years old by July 7, 2025. Enrollment in Arts Administration program and prior experience working with artists are both a plus.

  • Term of employment: From June 26 – August 20, 2025.
  • Compensation:  Hours will vary, $15.00 per hour, housing in Santa Fe and a rental car are provided.

JOB 3: DEVELOPMENT & SPEICIAL EVENTS INTERN 

The Development and Special Events intern position supports the Development Department in its varied projects, activities, and special events, and reports directly to the Director of Development. Responsibilities are varied and include working with the Development Team on the Festival’s 52nd Season Gala, a two-day event, several donor stewardship and cultivation events, and the Festival’s Closing Night Party; assisting the department with donor mailings and meeting preparation; maintaining donor files and other development materials; assisting with donor benefit fulfillment; and helping with social media as needed, along with other special projects.

A successful applicant will have good interpersonal skills and attention to detail; desire to learn more about development and special events planning; ability to remain composed in fast-paced situations; strong writing proof reading and spelling skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; experience with relational databases (Tessitura) is strongly preferred.

  • Term of employment: From June 2 (possibly earlier if available) – August 22, 2025.
  • Compensation: Stipend $15.00 per hour; housing in Santa Fe is provided. Personal vehicle optional.

JOB 4: RECORDING INTERN

The Recording Intern will assist in the audio recording and post-production of the Chamber Music Festival’s concerts and rehearsals. Primary responsibilities include setting up microphones, running audio cables, monitoring live recordings, assisting with post-production in Pro Tools and adjusting stage setups as needed. The intern will also aid in video recording setups, if applicable, and provide general production support alongside the festival’s stage crew.

A successful candidate will have experience or strong interest in audio recording, a familiarity with Pro Tools, the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced festival environment, and the ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Attention to detail, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential. A background in music or sound engineering is preferred, and the ability to read music is a plus but not required.

  • Term of employment: From August 8 – August 18, 2025.
  • Compensation: The compensation for the term is $1,600.
