Calls for Visual Art
BUAI Office Galleries
We encourage students from both art and non-art majors throughout Boston University’s 17 schools working in any medium at any level to submit art to be showcased and shared with the broader BU community. We are open to displaying a variety of creative mediums, including 2-D and 3-D works. Selected artworks must be framed or mounted for hanging (we have a limited budget to help in framing or printing artworks if needed). If you have questions about exhibiting, please contact artsinbu@bu.edu to talk to a Gallery Committee member.
2-3 exhibitions per semester, submissions accepted on a rolling basis. To be considered, students should submit at least 6-10 images. These can be scans or photographs of artworks. Smaller submissions will be considered for group shows.
BUAI Window Installations
We welcome submissions from graphic designers or digital artists to display work in the BU Arts Initiative office windows. These large installations above the GSU stairwell are highly visible and a great way to exhibit work. Our office pays to have work printed.
Submissions must be formatted to the following dimensions: Triptych with dimensions 87” x 34” per panel, to fit three big windows above the stairs (87”x102” total).
Now open for entry. The deadline to submit for the 2023/2024 exhibition is May 5, 2023.
Silber Way Exhibition
The BU Arts Initiative is pleased to invite entries for an annual exhibit on the 8th & 9th floors of the BU Administrative building at 1 Silber Way. This juried exhibition is open to all BU students, alumni, faculty, and staff. 2D works including, but not limited to, painting, textiles, photography, drawing, printmaking, and graphic design, are welcome.
Annual exhibition runs approximately July through May.

Call for Musicians
The BU Arts Initiative is looking for student musicians (solo artists or small groups/bands) to perform 30 minute sets at our monthly First Friday events.
3-4 events per semester on the first Friday of every month, submissions accepted on a rolling basis. If you have questions, or to be considered, please email samples of music to artsinbu@bu.edu.
