Broadway visionaries and longtime Boston University supporters Stewart F. Lane (CFA’73) and Bonnie Comley have pledged a $3 million gift to the University. A six-time Tony Award–winning producer, Lane chairs the Boston University College of Fine Arts Dean’s Advisory Board, has served on the Boston University Board of Trustees and University Advisory Board, and has cochaired the New York Regional Leadership Committee.

Of the gift, $1 million will fund significant concert hall updates. In recognition of the combined gift, Boston University will rename the concert hall the Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Concert Hall.

Trustee Challenge for Future Scholars Announced

At her first Presidential Address in January, BU President Melissa Gilliam announced that multiple members of the Board of Trustees had joined to launch the Trustee Challenge for Future Scholars. Their gifts are being added to a matching fund that will enable other donors to endow PhD fellowships across the University for $600,000—half the usual amount.

“PhD students are essential participants in ongoing research in more than 50 programs, working directly with faculty, and they also teach and mentor undergraduates,” says trustee Ryan Roth Gallo (LAW’99), who made a lead gift. “They are truly at the heart of our research excellence.”
