  1. Thanks for the video tour. When the pre-college summer programs have used Towers during the past summers, its been a nice venue. It covered by trees and lower to the ground so it feels cooler than the larger dorms, like Warren Towers. Also, like the student lounge on the first floor.

  2. I lived in 9 West Tower my freshman year in 1980 and it looks almost exactly the same! The laundry room is definitely modernized and we ate in that basement dining hall (now lounge). What a great blast from the past!

  3. I lived in Towers my first two years. My how things have changed. I liked the configuration of the dorm rooms when I lived there. The rooms felt roomier with larger closets and larger desks. The food has certainly upgraded.

  4. I lived in the towers from 1960 to 1966. It was the place to be. Watch the Beatles in the downstairs TV room. Called my parents from the phone booth by the elevators on the main floor during the Bay of Pigs invasion. The boys from Newton hung out in our lobby. The dress code allowed you to wear pants out of the dorm if it was 10° or below. Times have changed, but the building remains the same.

    1. I remembered the temp had to be
13 degrees or below and that rule I always considered to be so arbitrary. And it was darn cold outside at either temp requirement. And, hard to climb over the high snow banks on all of the corners…in a skirt. Not my best memory of BU! ( in 1963+)

  5. I lived in Towers in 81-83 … ninth floor east! Had the same awesome view! I liked that the dining hall was in the building but the food these days looks a lot better. :) I hope they updated the bathrooms!

  6. I was in Towers 1981-1983 before moving off campus. Great location. Somewhat typical dorm look of its era sporting cinder block walls, sticky beer floors and no frills. Our dining hall was in the basement and I so appreciated that especially on those cold Boston winter nights. I felt kind of bad for those who had to walk from elsewhere to the Towers Dining Hall. There was no real study space in the lobby area like the video shows. In fact, I had no idea there was that much square footage in the lobby and ground floor area until I saw this video. I have no idea what the space was used for back in the early 1980s. Good memories there and can still picture in my head lying in bed listening to The Cure, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran.

  7. Wow. Dining hall had so many memories. Sad it’s a study lounge but seems like dining options are so much better. Single dorm rooms and no cinderblock walls! Great improvement from the 90s! Thank for the tour!!
