    1. The design was a collaborative effort lead by Marketing & Communications, with help Information Services & Technology and an external agency called 10Up.

  1. Sorry. I liked the old email format better. It involved less scrolling. I could see more of what was being sent right at the top. The new format is like most of the other emails I get. I really liked that the BU format was unique. It stood out.

  2. On my Macs, using the Safari browser, the front page loads very slowly and seems to reload randomly. I hope you will fix the performance issues.

I do like the layout of the redesign.

    1. Thank you for writing. We are aware of the issue and are addressing it as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  3. I agree with another commenter above. The old design was compact and one could glance at the email to see if any stories of that day were of interest, for digging in further. The new format is cumbersome, requires excessive scrolling, and will likely move BUToday emails from one of the few broadcast emails I used to actually read, to those I delete without reading, going forward.

  4. I have to say I agree with others. I liked the old design better- more compact, could see more content in a glimpse. Lots of empty space in new format. But thank u for soliciting feedback.

  5. Pros: newsletter brings together content from all of BU’s media sources

Cons: photos are too large and requires a lot of scrolling, also when viewing from PC the email/newsletter doesn’t resize based on the window size so requires extra scrolling up/down as well as left/right (ie display size isn’t responsive)

I also preferred the previous newsletter format with thumbnails and headlines, I feel this could still be used while also highlighting the range of content.

I would say it’s less about the format/large photos that draw me in and more about whether the headline catches my attention, and the previous format made it easier to skim to see what I’d be interested in clicking

  6. Hello,

I have to say, I’m not a fan of the new layout for BU Today. I liked the “old” site design much better. Sometimes, newer isn’t best. :) Please bring back “old” format. You can add a couple new tweaks, if you’d like!!!

  7. The new layout looks great in a web browser and overall I love the design direction. But via email the multiple type treatments (fonts, weights, colors, etc.) without clear structure makes me crazy and (more importantly) makes me not want to read it. Why is one headline underlined (or bold) but others are not? The section heads are confusing as they don’t scan as section heads. I have to do a lot of work to be able to decipher the content, not an ideal scenario for readers.

Overall, I think it just needs some tweaking to once again be easily scannable in email form.

  8. I regularly read BU Today as I find it informative and occasionally use articles with my students. To have a variety of info sources is one place is a big help.

    Thanks
