Free Berklee Summer Concert at the Rose Kennedy Greenway
Tonight: indie, rock, soul-inflected music by Boston-based Night Lights

Summer nights in the city offer all manner of pleasure, especially when they involve listening to a great band en plein air. Tonight, the Boston-based band Night Lights performs a mix of indie, rock, and soul in the beautifully maintained Rose Kennedy Greenway park at Oliver and Pearl Streets, as part of Berklee College of Music’s free Summer Concerts at The Greenway Sessions.
The band, comprising five Berklee alums, got its start in 2012. Hailing from Mexico, Japan, California, and Norway, the musicians bring a wide range of musical influences to their work. According to the Night Lights website, they want to “make people dance and feel feelings” in songs that combine captivating harmonies with penetrating existential lyrics.
The group’s debut EP, Here We Come, featuring the singles “Make Me Smile” and “Hit the Water,” was released last July to critical success. The band’s first full-length LP comes out this summer.
Berklee’s Summer Concerts series showcases local bands with Berklee-trained musicians each Wednesday night on the Greenway through mid August. Upcoming are the eclectic group Oh, Malô, jazz and pop trio 3 Sudacas, and Cyprus-born vocalist Andrea Charls. The concerts start at 5 p.m.
Night Lights performs tonight, Wednesday, June 24, at the Rose Kennedy Greenway park at Oliver and Pearl Streets, Boston, at 5 p.m.; free and open to the public. Take an MBTA Green Line trolley to Haymarket or an MBTA Red or Orange Line train to Downtown Crossing, then walk to the intersection of Oliver and Pearl streets.
