    Rich Barlow is a senior writer at BU Today and Bostonia magazine. Perhaps the only native of Trenton, N.J., who will volunteer his birthplace without police interrogation, he graduated from Dartmouth College, spent 20 years as a small-town newspaper reporter, and is a former Boston Globe religion columnist, book reviewer, and occasional op-ed contributor.   1. I wrote a comment on a Carr article for the NYT and it became one of the NYT picks. It was cool to think that David Carr might have seen it…or even picked it! (Have no clue how the Times decides those things). To have had the opportunity to be in one of his classes would have been amazing. What a loss for the BU community. And for his family. And for anyone who wants a writer/journalist to tell the story straight (and well). Staying honest is often a challenge in any walk of life, but Carr was brave and strong enough to keep that ability front and center, as a model for us all. Really, what a loss. RIP.
