  1. There is a reason why this show keeps failing – it’s just not a great show. I attended the performance last night, attended by probably only 50 people, and while the production itself was great (kudos to the cast and crew), I really found not engaging and at times boring. It is a shame that such talented student seem to rarely do good shows that might actually an audience. It would be great if CFA would choose at least one mainstage show a year that would be both a learning opportunity for students as well as a show that would draw large audiences to show off the talent that abounds at our school.

  2. We saw it last night and loved it. Seemed like many more people were there than the first writer posts. It was an exuberant and terrific show. Thanks for sharing it with us!

  3. WOW what a great show! My congratulations to the talented cast, the director, and the outstanding design team. No joke, they used over 30 broken pianos to build the set and props – INCREDIBLE! And on top of it all, the play had meat to it – what a treat to see a musical with substance. Again, my congratulations to all involved.

  4. I’ve been enjoying Sondheim shows for more than forty years in a variety of settings, including on the Broadway stage. Today, I was privileged to see the BU production of “Merrily…” I thought it was marvelous– exuberant, well-acted, typically complex, and compelling. The leads were all super as was the the rest of the cast. I only regret that many more Boston theater-lovers won’t be able to able to enjoy it, and that I will not be able to see it again. Congratulations to all.
