Women Steamroll Stony Brook; Men Fall to Vermont
Terrier b-ball remains strong in America East play

Jesyka Burks-Wiley (CAS’09) scored 28 points to lift the women’s basketball team over conference rival Stony Brook at Case Gym last night, 89-71. The Terriers have now won 11 straight games, have a 16-6 overall record, and are 10-0 in the America East conference.
The senior class has consistently guided the squad on the offensive and defensive ends of the court this season, and last night’s matchup was no exception. Burks-Wiley was backed by 15 points from Christine Kinneary (CAS’09) and 11 from Kristi Dini (SAR’09), who are both averaging double figures.
The Terrierscame to the game fresh off a thrilling 64-61 overtime win at Vermont on February 7; they have won eight of their nine conference games by at least 11 points, and they own a 16.1 scoring margin over league opponents. The team leads the conference in field goal percentage (.428), free throw percentage (.727), and turnover margin (+2.86).
The Terriers are now just one of 14 teams in the country unbeaten in their respective conferences. BU will hit the road for a three-game stretch next, beginning with New Hampshire on Sunday, February 15, followed by Binghamton on February 18 and Hartford on February 24. The Hartford game will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet at 7 p.m.
The men’s basketball team, ranked number-one in the conference heading into last night’s game, didn’t fare as well. The Terriers entered the contest on an eight-game winning streak, but lost to the Catamounts, 75-47, in Burlington, Vt. Corey Lowe (SHA’10) led BU’s scoring with 20 points, and John Holland (CGS’09) contributed 14.
The Terriers are now 14-10, 9-3 America East; the Catamounts improve to 19-7, 10-3 America East. BU is tied with Binghamton for second place in the conference.
The weekend will not get any easier for the Terriers — they host Binghamton on Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Roof.
