Terriers Trump Albany, 78-48
Women's b-ball winning streak continues

In its largest victory of the season, the Boston University women’sbasketball team (14-6, 8-0 AE) extended its unbeaten streak to ninegames with a 78-48 triumph over Albany (3-18, 1-7 America East) on February 4 — breaking a school record for consecutive wins.
Amarachi Umez-Eronini (CAS’09) led with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals, and classmate Christine Kinneary (CAS’09) dished out a game-high 5 handouts, becoming the program’s all-time career assist leader.
In the wire-to-wire victory, BU shot 46 percent from the field andoutrebounded the Great Danes by a 39-31 margin. Umez-Eronini, BU’sAmerica East Player of the Game, shot 50 percent from the field and was9-for-10 from the free throw line. Aly Hinton (CAS’10) recorded a season-high 16 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Also reaching double figures was Kristi Dini(SAR’09), with 10 points. Kinneary needed just five assists to break the 28-year-old record of DebbieMiller (’81), and she came through with four in thefirst half to tie theschool record and one in the second to become the all-time leader.
The Terriers opened the contest on a 14-0 run, holding theGreat Danes scoreless for the first six minutes before TabithaMakopondo went in for a layup to break the streak. Albany scored thenext eight consecutive points to cut the deficit to six, 14-8, at 9:48.Over the next three minutes, BU returned the favor, outscoring UA,10-5, to open up a 24-13 advantage and forcing the home squad to call atimeout and regroup. Jesyka Burks-Wiley(CAS’09) and Hinton scored the Terriers’ final eight points, while FeliciaJohnson tallied five for the Great Danes to round out the first-halfscoring at 32-18.
Throughout the first four minutes of the second half, the Terriers andthe Great Danes traded baskets, moving the score to 41-25 by the 15:57mark. A 5-0 spurt extended the Terriers’ lead to 19, 46-27, at 12:48,and with eight minutes remaining, BU enjoyed a 20-point advantage,58-38.
