Cutler Cleveland Wins Adelman-Frankel Award
Cutler Cleveland, a CAS prof. of geography and environment, wins Adelman-Frankel Award.

Cutler Cleveland, a professor of geography and environment at the College of Arts and Sciences, recently was given the Adelman-Frankel Award by the U.S. Association for Energy Economics “in recognition of his unique and innovative contributions to the field of economics.”
Cleveland attributes receiving the award to his work as editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Energy, a six-volume reference work that won an American Library Association award in 2004. He also coauthored the Dictionary of Energy, a reference text for energy researchers. Cleveland’s research interests include interdisciplinary studies on the determinants of oil supply, as well as comparative analysis of various energy systems.
Past winners of the Adelman-Frankel Award include James Schlesinger, the first U.S. secretary of Energy and a former U.S. secretary of defense, and Mohan Munasinghe, vice chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Control.
