Jeanne R. Paratore, an SED associate professor of education, developmental studies, and counseling, recently coauthored Teaching Literacy in Second Grade (Guilford Publications, 2005), a comprehensive guide for reading and writing instruction. One reviewer calls the book “an engaging, fast-paced resource” that is “theoretically grounded, research-based, and uniquely practical.” Paratore’s current research focuses on classroom grouping practices and family literacy.
