Susan Metz, PhD
Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion
Stevens Institute of Technology

Dr. Susan Metz is the Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion and Senior Research Associate at Stevens Institute of Technology.  A member of the Stevens President’s Cabinet, Susan directs and catalyzes efforts to increase diversity of the faculty and student body, and to improve University culture and climate.  She also leads several National Science Foundation grants focused on advancing equity and success in STEM fields, collaborating with four-year universities and two-year colleges, in addition to an ADVANCE grant aimed to increase the representation of women faculty in the academic sciences at Stevens.

Dr. Metz is a founder of the national organization WEPAN, Women in Engineering Proactive Network, and under her leadership, Stevens and WEPAN were recognized by Presidents Clinton and Bush respectively, with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).  She is a recipient of the Maria Mitchell Women in Science Award and is an Association for Women in Science Fellow.
