Rakhshanda Saleem, PhD, is an associate professor in the Division of Counseling and Psychology at Lesley University, Cambridge, Mass. Her teaching and scholarship are guided by the philosophy of critical pedagogy and its transformative role in promoting societal changes grounded in principles of liberatory justice. Her research focuses on structural violence particularly related to direct and cultural violence of racism, poverty, gender, and the historical and ongoing impact of colonialism and imperialism on globally marginalized and disenfranchised communities. She is committed to consciousness raising through scholarship and teaching to promote an intersectional anti-racist, anti-colonial, and transnational analysis and solidarity for dismantling oppressive conditions.
