The Persisting Racial Inequities in Food Insecurity
In the U.S., around one in seven households worry about having too little to eat. Families who are food insecure have poor access to nutrient-dense food, which contributes to a variety of chronic health problems, such as cardiovascular disease. Children who live in food insecure households are particularly vulnerable as a lack of nutritious food adversely affects their cognitive growth.

The High Suicide Rates Among Indigenous Populations
In 2019, suicide was the second leading cause of death for Indigenous people in the U.S. between the ages of 10 and 34. This trend continued in 2020 with American Indian and Alaska Native people having the highest suicide rates of all ethnic and racial groups. In fact, suicide rates among Indigenous populations increased by 40% between 2010 and 2020. That’s a staggering surge.
