Course requirements are as follows:<\/p>\n<h3>Core Course Requirements (for all students)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 701 Anthropology Across Sub-Disciplines<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Two of the following:\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"2\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 703 Anthropological Theory: History and Practice<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"2\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 704 Sociocultural Theory: Contemporary Currents<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"2\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 705 Theory in Evolutionary Anthropology: The Biological and Historical Past<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"2\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 751 Seminar in Linguistic Anthropology<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"2\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 791 Contemporary Theory in Archaeology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">One course in relevant research methods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Sociocultural Track Requirements<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Three core courses are required: GRS AN 703, GRS AN 704, and GRS AN 751<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">The methodology course should normally be GRS AN 590<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">One anthropology course focusing on the ethnography of a specific geographical region outside the student\u2019s ethnographic area of specialization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Biological Track Requirements<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">The core courses must include GRS AN 705<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">The methodology course should normally be GRS AN 595<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">One statistics course, GRS AN 588<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">Students are expected to take at least one course or directed reading\/research course in each of the Biological Anthropology subfields: Primatology; Human Biology; Genetics\/Genomics; Paleoanthropology\/Morphology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Archaeology Track Requirements<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">The core courses must include GRS AN 791<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">The methodology course should be GRS AN 794 Scientific Methods in Archaeology<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">A second methods course in archaeology, such as GRS AR 516 or 518, or a graduate-level statistics course, such as GRS AN 588<\/li>\n<li data-gc-list-depth=\"1\" data-gc-list-style=\"bullet\">GRS AN 793 World Archaeology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>The remaining coursework should be chosen in consultation with the student\u2019s academic advisor to create a coherent program of study, which may include courses from other departments.
