Anthropological training is complemented by studying abroad. While not required, going to another country to take courses and learn outside of the BU community helps students to develop an appreciation for the diversity of human cultures not only across the globe, but through time. Students develop a more focused understanding of the\u00a0 lived experiences in different societies, and develop skills and experiences that equip them for an era of globalization in which they will need to understand and interact with societies and cultures beyond their own. Such experiences ultimately cultivate a strong cross-cultural understanding, and create a point of reference that enriches their subsequent coursework after a study abroad experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through varied study abroad curricula offered in <\/span>more than 90 countries,<\/span><\/a> students are able to work towards satisfying academic requirements such as the HUB, program requirements, and foreign language requirements. On the Study Abroad website you will find resources to help you find a program that fits your interests and meets your academic needs, as well as internship opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Study Abroad program is managed and operated by <\/span>BU Global Programs<\/span><\/a>, which also houses the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) and the Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anthropology and Field Schools<\/b><\/h3>\n

Anthropological training offered by the department extends beyond the classroom with field schools, where undergraduates engage in research alongside faculty and graduate students in the field. These are just a sampling of field schools available to Anthropology undergraduates.
