{"id":58,"date":"2009-10-23T15:09:41","date_gmt":"2009-10-23T19:09:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/amyloid\/events\/x-symposium\/"},"modified":"2012-03-02T12:41:55","modified_gmt":"2012-03-02T17:41:55","slug":"x-symposium","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/amyloid\/events\/x-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"XIth International Symposium on Amyloidosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>November 5-9, 2006<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<br \/>\n<\/strong> The XIth International Symposium on Amyloidosis will be held on the Cape Cod seashore at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA.\u00a0 The Marine Biological Laboratory is an educational institution dedicated to scientific discovery in biology and medicine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbl.edu\/inside\/visit\/directions\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Travel by car<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterpanbus.com\/tickets\/fares.php\" target=\"_blank\">Travel by bus<\/a><br \/>\nDepending on where you are traveling from, enter either Logan Airport or Boston South Station (bus and train depot) for Departure City and Woods Hole for Destination City.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/amyloid\/files\/pdf\/busschedule.pdf\">Click here<\/a> for a pdf version of the bus schedule. <strong> <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/amyloid\/files\/word-documents\/symposiumprogram_001.doc\">Schedule<\/a> for Scientific Sessions and Social Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keynote Speaker<br \/>\n<\/strong> The keynote speaker will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/amyloid\/events\/prusiner-bio\/\">Dr. Stanley Prusiner<\/a>, Nobel laureate for his discovery of an entirely new class of pathogens, prions, that replicate without nucleic acid.\u00a0 Through this work, he created a new field of research that has resulted in significant progress in understanding degenerative diseases of the central nervous system (CNS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration<br \/>\n<\/strong> Registration for the Symposium through the MBL website is now closed. Email Kamille Carthy at <a href=\"mailto:kcarthy@bu.edu\">kcarthy@bu.edu<\/a> if you still need to register.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/phpbin\/amyloid\/abstracts\/app\/index.php\">Abstracts<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong> The deadline for abstracts will be July 15th and notice of acceptances will be available by September 15th.\u00a0\u00a0 Abstracts should be new scientific or clinical data that is appropriate for one of the scientific sessions as listed in the schedule for scientific sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Abstracts will be published by Taylor and Francis Publishers as a supplement to the Amyloid Journal which will be available at the Symposium.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0\">An extended abstract will be published in a book published by CRC Press as was done for the Xth International Symposium.\u00a0 Extended abstracts may be submitted at the Symposium or must be received by November 15th.
