Amyloidosis Foundation Grant!
Congratulations to Dr. K. H. Vincent Lau and mentor Dr. Vaishali Sanchorawala on their Amyloidosis Foundation Grant award, announced by the foundation on January 31, 2022! Their project “Evaluating Plasma Neurofilament Light Chain as an Early Biomarker for Polyneuropathy in V122I Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis” aims to characterize a blood marker for early detection of neuropathy, enabling timely targeted treatment. (As the V122I mutation is found primarily among Black individuals, their work will focus on a patient population traditionally underrepresented in amyloidosis research.)
