As a lifelong resident of Massachusetts and an eager student of New England culture (among other things), I am thrilled to be continuing my Americanist training here at BU. I am broadly interested in how Americans from the colonial period through the nineteenth century have dealt with questions of belief and meaning. My more specific interests include the intersection of religion and literature in the United States to about 1900, American poetry, and the history of reading.
