Boston Area Consortia

Cross Registration Consortium
Graduate students in the American and New England Studies program are able to cross-register for graduate courses at other local academic institutions, including Boston College, Brandeis University, Hebrew College, and Tufts University. Students are eligible to take one course per semester at one of these other institutions. Cross-registrants should expect to satisfy all prerequisites and requirements for courses as indicated by the host institution. For more information, see the Office of the Registrar’s website.

Graduate Consortium in Women’s Studies at MIT
The Graduate Consortium in Women’s Studies (GCWS) is a pioneering effort by faculty at MIT, Boston University, and other institutions in the Boston area to advance scholarship in the fields of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. Graduate students at BU may take the team-taught, interdisciplinary courses for a grade and credit at MIT. There is also the option to earn a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. Each fall, GCWS offers a “Workshop for Dissertation Writers in Women’s and Gender Studies” in addition to other courses listed on their website.

For more information and application instructions, visit the GCWS website. Questions? Contact Professor Carrie Preston.
