She is the feminist\u00a0scholar\u00a0who coined the term <u><a href=\"https:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/article\/715439\">know-your-place aggression<\/a><\/u>\u00a0to emphasize that marginalized groups are attacked for succeeding, not because they have done something wrong.\u00a0Mitchell is\u00a0author of the award-winning book <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.uillinois.edu\/books\/?id=p078804\">Living with Lynching<\/a><\/u><\/em>\u00a0and author of the 2020 book <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.uillinois.edu\/books\/?id=c043321\">From Slave Cabins to the White House<\/a><\/u><\/em>. She is also editor of Frances E. W. Harper\u2019s 1892 novel <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/broadviewpress.com\/product\/iola-leroy\/#tab-description\">Iola Leroy<\/a><\/u><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0of\u00a0the first book-length autobiography by a formerly enslaved African American woman, Harriet Jacobs\u2019s <em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/broadviewpress.com\/product\/incidents-in-the-life-of-a-slave-girl\/#tab-description\">Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl<\/a><\/u><\/em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/broadviewpress.com\/product\/incidents-in-the-life-of-a-slave-girl\/#tab-description\">\u00a0<\/a><\/u>(1861). In\u00a02014, Mitchell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?318296-1\/living-lynching\">lectured at the Library of Congress<\/a>, and in\u00a02018, she was named Undergraduate Professor of the Year by Ohio State University\u2019s English Undergraduate Organization.
