Why should I participate?
\n<\/strong>Participating in research is one of the most important ways you can help fight the disease. The Boston University Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Research Center (BU ADRC) has over 400 active research participants who have been involved in a variety of studies.<\/p>\n

What kinds of studies do you have?<\/strong>
\nThe types of studies at the BU ADRC change from time to time. Many studies explore how people\u2019s memory and behavior change as they age. Other studies look at physiological changes associated with aging and Alzheimer\u2019s disease. We also have clinical trials that research new treatments for Alzheimer\u2019s disease and related disorders. Click here<\/a> for a full list of studies.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am healthy. Can I still participate?<\/strong>
\nYes! Many of our participants have no memory concerns. Studies often recruit both healthy volunteers, and volunteers with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n

Where do the study visits take place?<\/strong>
\nMost of our studies take place at the Boston University Medical Campus or other locations in the Boston area. Parking is often reimbursed and transportation may be provided. For some studies we can come to you.<\/p>\n

How often do I have to participate?<\/strong>
\nYour participation is always voluntary. Once you enroll in a study, our friendly team of researchers will guide you through each step of the process. Some of our studies require only a one-time visit, while others may involve multiple visits over a period of months or years.<\/p>\n

Do you have a brain donation program?<\/strong>
\nYes, participants in our HOPE study have the opportunity to join the brain donation program. Click here<\/a> to learn more about our brain donation program.<\/em><\/p>\n

Can residents in Assisted Living Residences or Nursing Homes participate?
\n<\/strong>Some Assisted Living residents may be appropriate.<\/p>\n

Do all studies involve medications?
\n<\/strong>NO<\/p>\n

Can I quit once I enroll?
\n<\/strong>YES<\/p>\n
