TheUNITE study (Understanding Neurologic Injury and Traumatic Encephalopathy)\u00a0is a retrospective analysis of, professional and amateur athletes, Veterans and other individuals who sustained cumulative repetitive traumatic brain injury(s) (TBI) before passing away.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible participant\u2019s brains are subsequently donated to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/alzresearch\/ctecenter\/cte-center-research\/cte-brain-donation-registry\/\">VA-BU-CLF Brain Bank\u00a0<\/a>at the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bedford.va.gov\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital<\/a>\u00a0in partnership with the Boston Veterans Administration and the <a href=\"https:\/\/concussionfoundation.org\/\">Concussion Legacy Foundation<\/a>, for pathological examination and analysis. In concert with pathological analysis, family members or loved ones of the decedent provide retrospective medical and behavioral data.
