Bio

Sydney received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Dalhousie University, in Halifax Canada in 2020. She completed her Master’s degree in Anatomy & Neurobiology at Boston University in 2022. She joined the BU CTE during her Master’s degree, completing her Masters thesis with Dr. Alosco and Dr. Mez looking at structural MRI patterns of atrophy in brain donors with CTE and Alzheimer’s disease. Sydney now coordinates the Tau Agent for the NeurodeGenerative Lesion of CTE (TANGLE) study, a research study for former American football players to complete neuropsychological testing, neurological examinations and PET scanning. She completes the neuropsychological testing, and performs interviews collecting medical, sport and family history. Sydney also works with the Understanding Neurological Injury and Traumatic Encephalopathy (UNITE) study, where she leads clinical calls with donor’s families that address domains such as cognition, psychiatric disorders, substance use, impulse/aggression and traumatic brain injury. Sydney aspires to go to medical school and become a physician in the near future.

Research Interests

Sydney is interested in research related to finding biomarkers to diagnose CTE during life. Specifically imaging biomarkers such as structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging.
